Villa Sophia is a livestock farm in the Southeast of the Iberian Peninsula where the primary tree life consists of indigenous holm oak and cork trees. The animals are raised in their natural environment and given the freedom to graze on fruit and acorns which round out their diet. Our Iberian pigs are characterized by their “black hoof”, lean body and slender ankle.
The Iberian ham is sure to enrich any meal. It contains monounsaturated fatty acids (mainly oleic) which have the benefit of lowering total cholesterol level, triglycerides and LDL cholesterol. On top of this, Iberian ham also contains high-quality proteins which support a healthy Mediterrean diet.
The combination of the Iberian pig’s ability to accumulate fat and its diet of acorns and fruits characterizes its unique, smooth taste. The curation process of the ham lasts for a minimum of ten months which gives it its exceptional flavor. The entire process produces a delicious and appetizing product.
